Project
Summary:
This project funds 3 Community Development Workers as part of a team of 5 providing local presence and development support in North Yarmouth, South Yarmouth, Claydon St Andrews and Magdalen areas (Cobholm & Lichfield CDW is presently funded by SRB). The Community Development Worker acts as a catalyst within the community, encouraging the formation of community groups and facilitates the Community Partnership.
04-05 update
NRF funds three Community Development Workers who are now organised as a borough-wide team. The workers recruit for the Community Connections learning programmes and deliver community work training. They help local people and groups develop projects and apply for community grants; linking groups to specialist advisers and encouraging them to work together. These groups may be involved in a range of activity, for example, arts, sports and festivals. Between January and March the team helped groups bid for grants worth ?95,696.
The CDW's support the Community Partnerships, which are means of involving local people in decision making processes through consultation by organisations such as GY Sports Partnership, Sure Start and Norfolk Police, to name but a few. The Community Partnerships have a direct route into the Local Strategic Partnership through representation on the Social Forum.
