Community Empowerment

« back

Project Summary:
Neighbourhood Policing aims to put communities ? their needs, their issues and their priorities at the heart of local communities. Effective community engagement is crucial to the successful delivery of Neighbourhood Policing and requires an ongoing and consistent dialog with all sections of the community, listening, acting and reporting back on actions taken. Each Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) within Gt Yarmouth has a Community Engagement Plan. As part of the process of listening and engaging the Gorleston SNT responded and worked with residents on a Community Action Day. Integral to the success of the day was the involvement of residents and particularly young people; young people who have been referred to the Anti Social Behaviour Action Group or have come to the attention of SNT staff or estate Wardens. The Community Action Day was a milestone event in young people engaging with the SNT, a process that has continued to grow. To further cement the relationship the SNT are proposing a trip to Pleasurewood Hills to build bridges and support the young people?s continued and positive involvement in the local community. Will take place in summer holiday.
