Project
Summary:
This project is designed to provide the necessary musical instruments and experienced tutors to ensure a quality learning experience. The project will enable young people with varying skill levels to interact with other young people, encouraging peer learning and sharing of musical experiences. Most importantly the project is open to all young people in the Gt Yarmouth area. But will have a direct assess referral from the ASB action group.
The concept of this project has evolved following consultation with young people in the Gt Yarmouth area. They identified that access to contemporary musical instruments was an activity they were unable to participate in due to several factors such as ,high cost of instruments, lack of practice facilities, lack of tutors and very importantly no other young people to enjoy this experience with. This project will address all these issues.
The framework of this project is already in place allowing the project to be self sustainable after initial start up funding. Several venues in the Gt Yarmouth borough have been offered free of charge and volunteers identified to work with the young people. The proposal is for the project to run on a weekly basis to allow access across the Gt Yarmouth area.
At present there are no provisions for young people in the Gt Yarmouth area to engage in ongoing contemporary ?Rock School? style musical activities.
